5 exceptional measures to assist self-employed and SME
The Ministry of Finance, Economic Planning and Development has announced 5 exceptional measures to provide additional support to Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) and self-employed individuals.
- The Self-Employed One-Off Grant Scheme –An exceptional grant of Rs 10,000 to all self-employed individuals. This financial support will benefit more than 200,000 persons.
- The SME Interest-Free Loan Scheme – SMEs can obtain an interest-free loan of Rs 100,000 accompanied by a 5-year moratorium from the Development Bank of Mauritius (DBM).
- The Rs 1 Million SME COVID19 Special Support Scheme – SMEs can obtain an unsecured loan of up to Rs 1 million with an interest rate of 0.5% and a one-year moratorium on repayment of capital and interest from the DBM.
- The period of VAT payment due on 31 March 2021 has been extended to 15 July 2021 for SMEs.
- The DBM One-Year Moratorium Scheme is a one-year moratorium for the payment of capital and interest for all existing loans contracted with the DBM.
