Citizenship: Investor – Naturalisation
An investor may acquire the citizenship or nationality of Mauritius if:
- he/she has invested at least USD 500,000 in Mauritius; and
- he/she has resided in Mauritius for at least 2 years continuously preceding the date of his/her application.
Citizenship: Commonwealth citizen – Naturalisation
A Commonwealth citizen may acquire the citizenship or nationality of Mauritius if:
- he/she is of full age and capacity;
- he/she is of good character;
- he/she has an adequate knowledge of the English or French language;
- he/she is aware of the responsibilities of a citizen of Mauritius;
- he/she has resided in Mauritius throughout the period of 5 years, or such shorter period (not being less than 12 months) as the Minister may in the special circumstances of any particular case accept, immediately preceding the date of his/her application; and
- he/she intends to continue to reside in Mauritius if registered.
Citizenship: Non-Commonwealth citizen – Naturalisation
A non-Commonwealth citizen may acquire the citizenship or nationality of Mauritius if:
- he/she has resided in Mauritius for a continuous period of 1 year immediately preceding the date of his/her application; and
- during the 7 years immediately preceding the period of 1 year referred above, he/she has resided in Mauritius for an aggregate period of not less than 5 years.
